John Saunders
Director of Technical Development

 

 

John Saunders joins Princeton Soccer Association as Director of Technical Development with a wealth of knowledge and experience in developing youth players in both the UK and US.  John began his playing career in Liverpool, England, representing Everton FC and Liverpool FC at youth levels.  He then went on to play professionally for Oldham Athletic Football club from 1996-2002.  During this time, John also began his coaching career working for Xtra Time Soccer in Liverpool.  With a thirst for learning more, he spent time at Liverpool Academy shadowing former Academy directors Hughie Mcauley and Piet Hamberg.

Coming to the United States in 2006, John worked as a staff coach with TSF Academy in Northern New Jersey.  He then assumed a lead role in youth development and staff training, serving as Head of Youth Development/Technical Director for TSF from 2009-2011.  During this time, John took many trips to research successful youth academies throughout Europe, including Liverpool FC, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur and Malmo FF (Sweden).

A well-recognized figure in youth player development, John has obtained a number of world-wide coaching licenses, including his UEFA B license and UEFA Academy Managers License.  He also holds an NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma and National Certificate.

With an innate passion and enthusiasm for developing players and coaches, John looks forward to working with PSA staff, players and parents.
