John Saunders joins Princeton Soccer Association as Director of Technical Development with a wealth of knowledge and experience in developing youth players in the UK and USA. 

John began his playing career in Liverpool, England representing Everton FC then Liverpool FC at youth level, John then went on to play professionally for Oldham Athletic Football club (1996-2002).

While playing John began his coaching career working for Xtra time soccer in Liverpool also spending time at Liverpool Academy shadowing and learning from former Academy directors Hughie Mcauley and Piet Hamberg.

Since coming to the United States in 2006 John began coaching with TSF Academy (northern NJ). After 2 years of working as a staff coach John began to take more of a lead role in youth development and staff training. John became the head of youth development/ Technical Director for TSF in 2009-2011. During his time in this position John has made many research trips to successful youth academy’s in Europe,  Liverpool FC, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Tottenham Hotspur, Malmo FF (Sweden). 

A well recognized figure in youth player development, John has obtained a number of world wide coaching licenses including his UEFA B license and UEFA Academy managers License. He also has an NSCAA Director of Coaching diploma and Advanced National certificate.

John has a natural passion and enthusiasm for developing players and coaches and is looking forward to working with all Princeton SA staff, players and parents.
