Coaches Corner

Watching Arsenal play is a lesson in efficiency and poetry.  Although it pains me to enjoy their play, it would be foolish to deny the quality and precision with which they play and the overall majesty of their style.  Arsene Wenger has created an atmosphere where flair players can express themselves within a system designed to provide these opportunities to skill players and protected by quality and industrious defenders.  Their Champions League match this past Weds. (9/15/10) was an exhibition in excellence and should be viewed in its complete product, but I've attached some highlights from the match.  One of the goals was preceded by a 20-pass build-up that emphatically stated the difference in quality between Arsenal and SC Braga.

Weeknights in Europe are a special dream for all footballers, world-wide.  Clint Dempsey, an American international, grabs his moment of glory with style and panache.  This two-legged Europa League playoff match was all level, 4-4, with both teams having 1 away goal.  Extra time looms until this moment of technical inspiration. A quarterfinal series with VFL Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga is the reward.  Simply sublime!

This is a great training video that all the boys should watch.  Trying to emulate skills is the best way to learn them!  There are at least 6 more videos of this series; I highly recommend them for good technical ideas for the boys to work on.

Here is a great video of some Coach Ray’s favorites! I’ll add my favorites from time to time on this site.
