Princeton Futsal Academy '93 Girls Win State Championship
The U15 team captured the U17 bracket title in the Eastern PA state cup

The Princeton Futsal Academy (FA) ’93 team traveled to the UnitedSportsTrainingCenter in Downingtown, PA on January 24th to compete in the Eastern PA Futsal Championships.  The FA ’93 team was the only U-15 squad competing in the U-17 age bracket against U-16 and U-17 teams from Pennsylvania and New York.  Despite playing against older girls, the FA’93 team had a clean sweep of their four games and came away with the championship trophy.

The evening started with a 6-1 win against the U-16 Vincent United FC Vipers who are based in Pottstown, PA.  FA ’93 dominated the game from the outset and was never threatened.

A short while later, FA ’93 squad took on a strong U-17 Long Island Futsal Elite (LIFE) HBC squad who traveled to Downingtown from their base in Brentwood, Long Island.  After a much more competitive game, FA’ 93 came away with a hard fought 3-1 win.

In their third contest of the evening, FA’93 took on the U-17 Vincent United FC Valor ’91 squad.  Despite the two year age difference, FA ’93 dominated the game and notched an 8-3 victory.

With three straight wins, FA ’93 earned a spot in the final against the strong U-16 TEYSA Charge team from Berwyn, PA.  In the tightest match of the night, FA ’93  and keeper Lexi Golestani made their only goal stand up for a very exciting 1-0 win.

With their win in the Eastern PA Championships, the FA ’93 squad earned the right to play in the Northeast Regional Championships which will be held at the City College of New York on February 14-16.

Coach Mike Poller said, “I really liked the enthusiasm and intensity that the girls played with tonight.  They played well as a team and I think that they will be very competitive in the upcoming regional championships.”

The FA ’93 roster consists of eleven girls, including six players from the Princeton SA Orange Crush, and five strong players from other area soccer clubs.  Players from the Princeton SA Crush include Amanda Douglass, Lexi Golestani, Alexa Kogan, Kim Kornbluth, Caroline Survill and Erin Sutphen.   Rounding out the squad are Nicole Dennion (FC Bucks Xtreme), Tyna Freda (MatchFitAcademy), Kari Nichols (FC Bucks Xtreme), Kaitlin McNamara (FC Pennsylvania Strikers) and Callie Duliba (PDA Charge).
