PSA North & SDFC Merge to form PSA SDFC

Press Release: PSA and SDFC are excited to announce the merger of PSA North and SDFC to create PSA SDFC for the 2018/19 season.

SDFC, based in Montclair, NJ has a long standing tradition of developing players and teams that are recognized on State, Regional and National levels.

Combining the SDFC infrastructure and coaching staff to the PSA North program creates a new, exciting powerhouse club in Northern NJ for the 2018/19 season.

PSA SDFC will utilize the resources of both clubs in the north of NJ with the directors, coaches and facilities of both programs coming together in order to provide the best service for our players. The merging of the two programs will see at least two teams created at each age group for boys and girls U8 through U19. All teams will be highly competitive with elite level league play, tournaments and state cups.

All players within the PSA SDFC program will be eligible to also become a part of the PSA National program. PSA and SDFC successfully trialed this program with the 2002 Boys creating a nationally competitive team. The PSA National program will bring together the best players from PSA Princeton, PSA Wildcats and PSA SDFC to train together, offering more ambitious players an exceptional pathway to playing in college and beyond. For the PSA U11 - U14 boys and girls National teams this program is supplemental to the regular regional teams, and they will train together once per week during the spring and fall, in addition to a couple of elite tournaments.

Once in High School the U15-U19 boys and girls PSA National teams will train together twice per week, while training twice with their regional team. These PSA National teams will compete in the USYS Eastern Regional League (ERL), USYS National League (for qualifying teams), the NJYS National Championship series state cup and two national level tournaments.

"Leagues and clubs come and go, US Youth Soccer's Region 1 league and National League are constants and offer the highest level of play for teams the equal of any other program. SDFC merging with another quality established programs means that our teams will ALL be legitimate contenders at National level tournaments and leagues. I am excited to get to work with PSA and to continue to produce players at all levels including college, pro and National teams" Ashley Hammond SDFC President.

PSA North Director, Neill Miles, comments "This is a big step forward for both SDFC and PSA North, which I am sure will create a lot of interest. We don't wish to make wholesale changes and feel that stability will be the first line of our approach. With the guidance of existing management and staff, we are hoping the transition should be as smooth as possible. My former association with SDFC/SDA and familiarity with some of the players/parents and staff , will aid the affiliation and hopefully help way lay any concerns parents or players may have. I am excited that by pooling our resources, experience and know how together, we will not only consolidate each program, but significantly strengthen them."
